Why there's no reset button #

Only you know your master password. Nobody can reset it for you, not even Sensyble or a Passyble Server admin, because nobody else ever has it. A recovery code is your way back in.

Create a recovery code #

  1. Open Settings → This vault → Recovery code → Create… (or Save a recovery code in the Get started checklist).
  2. Click Print… or Save as a text file…. The code is shown only now: Passyble doesn't keep it.
  3. Keep it offline, away from the computer. Anyone with the code and a copy of the vault file can open the vault.
  4. Tick I printed or saved my recovery code.

On Android, Passyble asks for your master password first, then shows the code the same way.

Forgot your master password? #

  1. On the unlock screen, click Forgot password? Use your recovery code.
  2. Type the code. Dashes and spaces don't matter.
  3. Choose a new master password and click Set password.
  4. Make a new recovery code if the old one may have been seen by someone else.

On a Passyble Server vault #

There the master password is your server account's password. Use Forgot password? on the sign-in form, or ask your admin for a reset link, and open it on a device where the vault is still unlocked or opens with Windows Hello or your fingerprint: then nothing is lost. Without such a device you need the old password or a recovery code to keep your items.

Still unlocked somewhere? #

If Passyble is unlocked on any of your devices, change the master password there: Settings → This vault → Change….

None of these? #

Then the vault can't be opened. That's the price of nobody else being able to open it either. If you haven't yet, create a recovery code today.
